Just a quick post today, but I wanted to use it to talk about one of my favourite adverts of 2014 so far. When most people think of holiday or hotel advert, the first ones that will probably come to mind will be Trivago or Premier Inn, maybe even Hotels Combined or that slightly odd Thomson Holidays one with the ogre.
The one that comes to mind for me though is the advert for booking.com, with its hilarious voice over and equally hilarious shots of holiday goers. It makes watching the advert fun, something you don’t really get from the other holiday and hotel advert, and draws you in. The voice over makes it sound like some sort of epic movie trailer, which is made all the better when you see it in a cinema like I did a few weeks ago. Yes, it is a bit over the top, but who wouldn’t want recreational sand, aggressive relaxation or even maximum plushosity from their hotel? It’s exciting, fun and most of all memorable.
I’ve also just put up a new project on my Behance page, there’s just a taster below, so click here to have a look at the full project.
So, after a week away in the sunny bay of Sorrento, Italy, I’m finally back in Bath, welcomed by equally sunny weather which is nice. Being back in Bath also means the return of regular blog posts after the semi-regularity of last week and also the celebration of another blog milestone that was reached while I was away.
Now I know I go on about these milestones when I reach them and you’ve probably got bored with me telling you about every single one, so I’ll make them less frequent in the future, but 3,000 views is in my eyes a rather large number for what I consider to be a not very far-reaching blog, so thanks once again for all of your continued support and views.
To celebrate and due to the fact that you all missed out on what I’m sure would have been a fantastic edition of Music & Photo Sunday two days ago I’ve chosen to post a few photos which I took whilst on holiday. They form part of self-initiated mini-project of sorts which I came up on the first night after accidentally discovering the awesomeness of long exposure photos whilst messing about with my camera.
Music & Photo Sunday reaches double figures with today’s post, which is great because of the fact that I won’t be able to do one next week due to being on holiday in Italy. I’m in the process of scheduling some posts for while I’m away, but more on that later.
The photos from this week feature quite a lot of interesting lens flares due to be taken during a rather sunny walk I took around where I live in Bath.
And todays song is Octopus by Bloc Party, the first song from their new album.
So back to plans for next week. I’m planning on producing four posts that will go up on alternate days from tomorrow. These posts will look at some of the “more successful” projects that I have worked on over the past two years. They’re not perfect and there are several things I would change on them now that I’m a more experienced Graphic Designer, but I hope you appreciate them all the same.
